Located just west of Chicago along Ogden Avenue, Berwyn is a thriving suburban community with deep ties to the history of the Mother Road. Incorporated in 1908 (after splitting from Cicero Township), Berwyn earned its proud nickname "City of Homes" thanks to its impressive collection of historic Chicago bungalows, forming one of the largest such districts in the nation (The Central Berwyn Bungalows) and earning recognition of the National Register of Historic Places. The district includes 1,506 residential structures, 1,360 of which are considered to be contributing to the historic character of the district.
Berwyn was once home to the beloved Skylite Restaurant (formerly known as Bunyon's), a roadside diner that became a favorite stop for travelers seeking classic American fare.
