About Arcadia, Oklahoma: Where History and the Highway Meet
Arcadia sits along the 1926-1985 alignment of Route 66 in Oklahoma County. Founded in 1902, Arcadia quickly became a popular stop for travelers, largely because of its most famous attraction: the legendary Round Barn.
Built in 1898 by local farmer William Odor using native bur oak, the barn's perfectly domed roof and unique circular design made it an immediate marvel of frontier craftsmanship. Although the structure tragically collapsed in 1988, it was painstakingly restored in 1992 and is now proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the Round Barn hosts events and exhibits, standing as one of the most photographed and beloved sites on the Mother Road.
Adding a dramatic splash of modern roadside fun, POPS 66 Soda Ranch opened in 2007, instantly becoming a Route 66 icon. It draws visitors with its towering 66-foot-tall neon soda bottle and an astounding selection of over 700 soda flavors from around the world.
Arcadia's blend of historic preservation and contemporary charm is undeniable. Its proximity to Oklahoma City and active participation in annual Route 66 celebrations, including the Arcadia Route 66 Neon Festival, (supported by the Oklahoma Route 66 Association), ensure that this small town continues to shine as a vibrant highlight of the historic highway.
